Alternatively fueled vehicles continue to make major strides, adopters increase in number; and with the release of their Tucson Fuel Cell more than a year ago, Hyundai continues to demonstrate its dedication to staying at the forefront of innovation and technology.

With a driving range of 250 miles, and an increasing number of refueling stations in the region, the eco-friend SUV a reliable, and convenient alternative to traditionally powered vehicles. Now, there nearly 100 of the clean water vapor-emitting SUVs on the roads in Southern California.

Though speed is probably not the first thing on the minds of early adopters of the technology, this past Wednesday Hyundai proved that hydrogen-powered doesn't have to equal slow. Demonstrating its prowess at the Soggy Dry Lake Bed in the California desert, the Tucson Fuel-Cell set a land speed record for mass produced fuel-cell vehicles by reaching a top speed of 94.6 mph. It is not recommended that drivers attempt this speed away from a closed course or track, but it's nice to know that the capability is there.
