Heartbeat of Lima was established in 1973 to provide an atmosphere where every human heart feels cherished. We offer hope, education and resources to those that are experiencing a challenging time during their pregnancy. Heartbeat does not charge for any of the services or items that are provided. 

Heartbeat does not receive any State or Federal funding. We have always been supported by the community through grants, fundraisers, individual and church donations & in-kind donations. We are a volunteer organization with many wonderful volunteers and 3 employees that make it possible for us to do what we do. We always welcome new volunteers! 

Heartbeat of Lima serves Allen County and all of the surrounding counties. We do not receive funding that limits us to certain locations. Annually, we have 3,000 client visits for our various services. 

We offer free pregnancy testing and ultrasounds. Our nurses are able to give the women who come for pregnancy testing, written verification of their pregnancy. They can use that verification for their doctor's office or to apply for a medical card. One of our goals is to help them realize the importance getting into a physician for early pre-natal care. 

Our limited ultrasounds identify that the baby is growing in the uterus, it measures the heartbeat and the gestational size of the baby. The reports from the ultrasound can be passed on to their doctors, with the patient's consent. 

We also offer 3 different parent programs to those who are pregnant or have a child that is under 3, including one for fathers. For participating in our parenting programs, the clients earn points. They can use those points to shop in our 

"store". They can "purchase" items such as diapers, formula, clothing and shoes. The more that they put into their classes, the more points they will earn and the more they can purchase. Real money is not accepted for any items in the store. 

Financial donations and material-aid donations are very important to Heartbeat of Lima. We welcome donations of gently used or new clothing Newborn-4T, diapers, formula, and any miscellaneous items for a child under 3 years old.
