Is the Jeep Pickup Still Possible?

Rumors of an updated Jeep pickup truck have been around for years. Pickup trucks were once a top sales factor for Jeep, rolling off the lots of Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships in Lima, OH faster than they could be kept in stock.

At the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, Jeep CEO Mike Manley stated that Jeep is still very interested to producing pickups, possibly in the form of a Jeep Wrangler variant.

Jeep Comanche was the last pickup built by the auto maker, based off the Cherokee of that period. However, the success of vehicles from Chrysler and Dodge caused an early extinction of Comanche in 1992.

"If we were doing something like that, for it to be monetized properly, we'd likely partner it with another, equally appropriate, platform," Manley said during Jeep's press conference at LAAS, while standing beside a Wrangler-based Gladiator concept. "I wouldn't want to come to market with anything that wasn't Jeep capable, no matter where we'd sell it," Manley added.1
